The Importance of a Critical Screening

Photobucket

The best set of eyes for your movie are a pair of fresh ones. When a filmmaker works too close to their movie project it's easy for them to lose sight of some of the more simple and effective ways to improve the bigger picture. Kel and I held a small critical screening here in Los Angeles with the opportunity to have several more experienced writers and filmmakers give their personal feedback. I felt it was a success... everyone had valid questions and thoughts on different aspects of the Guam movie. One thing I was very pleased with was everyone had a general interest in wanting to know more about the island. So the screening proved three things to me... 1. The critical viewer can help you recognize what they liked or disliked about your movie project... which can only help you determine if it needs more work. 2. What type of person understands and appreciates the content in your film. (demographics) AND 3. That Guam needs way more movies. They all felt it was very exotic so with that I'm very pleased. Check back for more on the Shiro's Head critical screening in my next posts.
